Ah good, an expert! So is there really a scene in the book where our hero's steed gets crisped while the hero hides behind him? Or is this a specially-designed asbestos horse? :-)

Not only the horse, but the heroine as well gets crispy fried. I can't remember if the horse makes it or not; the heroine does, but it's a near thing, as I recall, and involves some serious magic. :-)
