Donation Contest Update

  • Feb. 20th, 2008 at 7:56 AM
Snoopy
Thanks to everyone who's voted in the goblin trilogy donation contest so far. A number of people have said how hard it is to decide, and I agree completely.

Last night, something completely unexpected happened. [info]robinbridges offered to sponsor a set of the books for one of the runner ups. Why? Because [info]robinbridges is an awesome human being, that's why. But it got me thinking.

I'm putting a PayPal donations button below. $16 will cover most of the cost of getting the three books to a good home (yay for author discounts!) I'm not asking anyone to give me money, and I don't want anybody to feel guilty if they either can't or choose not to. But I decided I should at least make the option available.

ETA: The donation button has been removed, since the contest is now closed.

$16... good number. ;) However did you come up with it??

Total cover price for the three books is $22 before tax. Slash my author discount, and that number gets smaller. Shipping will add a few bucks. I rounded things off so that (if my math is right) some of the shipping is covered by the donation and I'll cover the rest.

This is a great idea! I actually had something very deep and profound to say about how you do good and some seeds as metaphor were involved, but darn I thought of the things I had to do for a second and it all went away. So I guess a "you are great" will have to suffice.

Thanks, but I'm thinking it's my LJ friends who deserve the praise. They've already donated two more sets of books, and it's only 9:30 in the morning :-)

This is wonderful. Can I earmark mine for the soldier, if he doesn't already have some books? If he does, then whoever. Wouldn't it be awesome if everyone on your list got a set? *crosses fingers*

I have no objection to earmarking. Consider it done.

I'm already thrilled with the donations that have come in. If we get enough for the full list? That would be mind-blowingly cool.

Hey, Jim. Have you gotten enough for the full list yet?

With the trilogy I originally planned to donate, we have six sets of books. About halfway there.
