LOL Snoopy
LOL books use special time travel technology to get forthcoming book covers even before Amazon has them! Previous LOL books are available at http://jimhines.livejournal.com/tag/lol.

This morning we have the forthcoming book Shadowrealm (The Twilight War) [Amazon | Mysterious Galaxy] by Paul S. Kemp ([info]paulskemp). This is a December release, the third and final book in Kemp's Twilight War trilogy, but I saw the cover and just had to use it.

Man, wouldn't this be an entertaining spell to use in combat? Just imagine the battle cries your wizard could come up with.

I would guess that one would have to be a gamer for this one to make sense.

Just to let you know, I finished Goblin War Saturday morning. Wow - now that I've gotten to the end, I can see that there will NOT be a Goblin Water. Kind of a shame - there's lots more trouble that Jig & Smudge could have gotten into.

Yep -- specifically, a D&D type gamer. I know it's obscure, but then, the whole LOL genre isn't exactly humor for the masses. (And Paul's book is a Dragonlance novel, so I figured it fit.)

In D&D, there's a class of priest spells called Power Word _____. Power Word Stun, Power Word Kill, etc.

You know, I liked the ending of Goblin War ... I think it wraps things up pretty well, but there's definitely the possibility for some new stories. They'd be different, but you know Jig's going to have an interesting time of it :-)

I haven't played tabletop D&D in 10 years. BUT all the D&D-like computer RPGs (Neverwinter Nights et al) also have the 'power words' in them.

I'd find this one hilarious for several priests I've played/seen played...

I had a druid who once invented "Power Word Boot-to-the-head". I'm still amazed the DM let me get away with that...

Last D&D campaign I played a druid. Said druid was all about balance. There was a paladin with us. They got into something hairy (I don't remember what) and she killed someone (I don't remember why, I wann say just being skeevy). The paladin started squeaking at her about not killing innocents and yada yada yada. My druid simply cut a notch in her staff and said "Sometimes the balance is served by death, just as much as life."

The fighter that had travelled with her awhile snorted "Meaning she has to leave the next jerk alive." The druid just shrugged.

I loved my DM for letting me do things like that.

I agree with liking the ending, I was trying to not put a spoiler out here where others could see it.
I get rather discouraged when a series goes on and on and on...
There can be more stories without it being "The Neverending Saga" - and any more would HAVE to be different enough to NOT be part of the same trilogy *grin*

Exactly! I have no objections to possibly writing another goblin book someday. But I refuse to keep writing the *same* goblin book over and over.

I just (like, within the hour) finished reading GOBLIN WAR, and I must say I totally approved of the ending. Very satisfying. Good job, you!

...mind you, I want *more*. But it was a good ending. :)

D'oh! Forgotten Realms, not Dragonlance.

LOL, Power Word: Flush! Nice, that must be an Epic Spell.

Hilarious, Jim.

Incidentally, it's a Forgotten Realms novel, not a Dragonlance novel.

Sorry about that. Morning brain fart.

Mhm, I never knew power Word Flush could do so much damage. I think that it couple with the Mighty Toilet Scrub Brush of Hygiene and the Napalm Spray Cleaning product of Clenliness can cause the apocalypse.

Well, it is a very high level spell, after all ;-)

Truth be told it is. I fear my sister might gonna use it since she is into cleaning and all. I still suffer from her vacuum-staff ultimate attack.
