LOL Snoopy
LOL books like to color with an octarine marker. Previous LOL books are available at http://jimhines.livejournal.com/tag/lol.

Today's book is The Magic Toybox [Amazon | Mysterious Galaxy], edited by Denise Little. This is another of the DAW anthologies, and is actually a collector's item -- if you visit the Amazon link, you'll see that this book actually boasts a four-star review from Harriet Klausner.

(Wikipedia link, for anyone who doesn't get the LOL.)

Too funny!

Hah! I actually have a story in that one...

Didn't you do a caveman-style story for this one? I seem to remember you blogging about that, talking about finding an unusual angle when writing for themed anthologies.

Precisely. "Little Pig, Berry Brown and the Hard Moon." It's about a Neanderthal baby with a stick-toy.

All I am reminded of are my countless encounters in RPGs with Mimics, and in Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance on the XBox...

My DM was an evil ass.

You know, I don't think any of my DMs have ever tossed a mimic at us. I fought them in Nethack all the time, but that's about it.

And now I feel like I should screen this thread, just in case my current DM reads my LiveJournal...

That's no toybox... it's a mimic!

Lol!

Yay, Terry Pratchett, unless I missed the reference and in that case I'll just think of it as a mimic. I got eaten by one of those last night in The Granstream Sage.

Old school Pratchett, but yes. I hadn't even considered the mimic possibilities until they were pointed out in the comments.

And the next picture would be just the box and "Nom nom nom," right? :P

I can *totally* imagine The Luggage saying "Nom nom nom," too.

4 stars???
4 stars??? She must have hit the wrong key. I mean, there can be no other explanation!

Re: 4 stars???
I've seen a few other 4-star reviews from her. Not a lot, but it does happen every once in a while.

Re: 4 stars???
Pure sloppiness on her part, I'm sure. Given the number of reviews she does, I'm guessing she just sometimes misses the right number of stars. There isn't much time to double-check anything when you read and review 8 to 12 books a day...

Well, I only get around to a book a week, and I loved it! There were only a couple of stories that didn't hit the right spot for me.
