It's funny how body language can really vary. There's fine line between moving slow enough to telegraph intent & provide time to break off, and, moving as if you're hoping to get away with something.

If a friend pats me on the shoulder as a friendly hello, I'm okay with that. If a guy carefully snakes his hand up my arm, it comes off as trying to get away with something. The desire to avoid coming off as a creep can be telegraphed as *being* a creep, simply because, if you're focused on sex (even if it's "I don't want her to think I'm viewing her sexually!") it bleeds through.

That's why many women prefer fairly direct but respectful, I suspect. It's certainly why I do.
