Back in March, I posted about Janet Kagan’s work, which I love. Unfortunately, most of it was out of print.

Well, Baen Books has released her work in electronic form, which is awesome! They even put together a collection of her shorter work!

Hellspark

Amazon | B&N | Baen Books

Mirabile

Amazon | B&N | Baen Books

The Collected Kagan

Amazon | B&N | Baen Books

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go buy some ebooks!

Yay! I've been hitting the "I want this in Kindle" button on her stuff for months. And I haven't read most of the shorts, so new Kagan material. It's a great weekend.

SO glad someone finally collected all her short fiction! I've got some of it scattered thru a bunch of anthologies, but I know there's some I don't have.

And WOW for the Hellspark cover! As much as I like the Sternbach cover, it's nice to see Tocohl, and Maggy's arachne, and sprookjes!

Have you seen the Meisha Merlin cover?

Yes, I have that edition too, because my Sternbach edition was getting a little, shall we say, well-loved.

BTW, I found this at Emerald City Comic Con, and am working on turning it into cosplay of Geremy Kantyka. (By "working on", I mean I have one friend who's a professional costumer and another who works with blinkenlights, and I'm enlisting their help.)

Ooh -- yeah, I could see that as a Geremy-style second skin!

Eee!

(And seriously, I spent all of ten seconds wondering how much work I was going to have to put into acquiring a non-DRM'd copy* before I'm all Oh! Yeah! Baen!)

* Look, I always buy legal copies. But my preferred means, by which I mean most of the means I have time for unless I'm buying audiobooks** of reading books really requires non-DRM'd copies - yeah, okay, political preferences too, but those would get lazy otherwise, I assure you.
** Which are great, but which are something else altogether.

It actually turns out to take minor effort for me to get a DRM-free copy of The Collected Kagan: I went to Google Play, where I generally buy e-books, and that one (in what looks like a glitch) is listed a DRM-protected. I sent Baen an e-mail, and presumably they'll quickly get that sorted out.

Stephen Colbert looks very dubious of that bottle.

As a person who hands copies of the novels to people on a regular basis, I an over the moon that these are in digital print. Hooray! I have just bought all three.

Thank you! I've had people recommending Hellspark and Mirabile for years, and could never find them at a reasonable price. I've now purchased both.
