Contest and Book Drive Results

Congratulations to exapno and her family. Their picture, family time, won them the final ARC of The Stepsister Scheme [Amazon | Mysterious Galaxy]. Thanks to everyone who participated and voted. There wasn't a single entry I didn't love, and I'm glad I made all of you vote for the winner, because I would have had way too much trouble choosing one.

Thanks also to everyone who donated books and spread the word about my holiday book drive. We've collected five boxes full of autographed books for the domestic violence shelter here in Lansing. Not only that, but we've got twenty-seven boxes and bags full of used books. Holy crap! Half of my living room has been buried in boxes for weeks. It's absolutely wonderful, and I'm blown away by everyone's generosity.

Extra special thanks to controuble and everyone at WindyCon. WindyCon held a book drive this year, but it turned out the intended recipient couldn't accept more than two boxes. So controuble packed up her car with about half of the remaining books -- pretty much filling the entire vehicle -- and took a day to drive them from her home in Illinois to my house. (She received my last ARC of Stepsister as a thank you gift for going above and beyond.)

The full list of donors follows*. My deepest thanks to you all. And if anyone's looking for good books to buy for Christmas gifts this year, please consider checking out some of their work.

I would've, but mine's an e-book. Sorry. (It has a character who's being abused by a family member, so maybe it's not the best choice anyway.)

But that's great!

Nothing to apologize for. And thanks! This is the third year I've done this, and each year we end up with more books than last. I actually had to switch to a new shelter this year because the last one said "No more!"

No worries. I'll just hit you up for twice as many books when I do this again in 2009 :-)

Crapdammit, that'll teach me to miss LJ for so long! I would have happily donated copies of Truthseekers and the Squirrelman not-quite-a-trilogy. If you still want donations, let me know.

Good work!
