Cool Stuff Friday: Do It Yourself Edition

I’ve been traveling since Thursday morning, and didn’t get the chance to round up some links for today. But that’s okay! Because with today being Halloween, I figured this was a good chance for folks to share their favorite Halloween-themed pictures and link. Awesome costumes, your favorite jack o’lantern, whatever makes you smile. Post a link in the comments and pass the smiles along.

(If you’re on LiveJournal, comments are sometimes flagged as spam if they contain links. Sorry about that, and I’ll try to despam as I can.)

See you next week!

My favorite Halloween photo is my icon. :) That's my cat Molly at about a year old (she's 12 now, ack).

My black cat Magic (and her gray brother Mystic) are 12, too. No idea how that happened!

He's lovely! It's neat that they're brother and sister, too.

Time flies...

That's Magic, she's a she :-) But thanks! (I have their mom, too. Went to the shelter for one kitten...)

Oops, can you tell it's been a long day... (I even changed it from "they" when I realized that was only one cat.)

And I'm sometimes a professional proofreader, too. I would not have risked it on a time like this afternoon, though. Sorry!

Awww, it's really sweet of you to have taken all three. I know how that goes; we went to buy pet food once and came home with a kitten.

Magic looks great! Magic and Mystic are great cat names. :)

Thanks :-) Their mom is named Minerva. (She was called Patsy when I adopted her from the shelter. Her first people clearly had no imagination. Of course, they also had no grasp of the basic fact that if you let an unspayed female cat run loose, she is going to get pregnant, so there's that.)

That pumpkin looks amazing. And your cat looks adorable, lietya! :)

Awww, thank you!

That was a huge pumpkin - even in that picture, Molly is twice the size of the average female cat.

Also, for those fans of Jim Butcher novels, today is Harry Dresden's birthday :-)

happy birthday, Harry!

A spooky new media story from Eric "The Dionaea House" Heisserer. This one isn't as long, wide-ranging, or as complex as that earlier story, but it's still pretty cool.

Kari Byron (of Mythbusters fame) posted a one-minute youtube video about carving pumpkins. She used cookie cutters. So simple, yet so awesome! I tried it myself and made a very nice pumpkin without much effort.

Here's the video.
