A Possible Unifying Event re: the Hugos

The Hugos and Worldcon are over, and thus did the internet see the Eighth Plague of Post-Hugo Pontification. Some declared victory, while others declared victory for totally different reasons, and lo did they yelleth at one another over whose “victory” was bigger.

But on the fifth day, a lull did fall upon the web of the wide world, as rational and informed people of all nations looked down in agreement and unity. For generations of canine tribal war paled in the face of one simple truth:

This was dumbassery most epic. Most epic indeed…

ETA: Good gravy, there’s more, and this one wants to bring in the FBI!

I invite fans on all sides to finally come together as one to ask, “Dude, seriously?”

Because wow…

Oh my stars, the dude is serious? As one who works for attorneys, we would laugh at this (especially at $325 per hour - just how much is he out?).

I think it would be easier all 'round to refund his $40 and tell him to go pound sand elsewhere

Possibly not the smartest of the litter, there...

I assume he's claiming that the "No Award" result means he was disenfranchised? Too, too bad he didn't read the award rules.
Aug. 28th, 2015 01:14 am (UTC)
yeah, claiming the No Award votes "were used to discard" other votes... I just, what? No, you insult-to-idiots-everywhere, No Award votes are just as legit as any, and have been since pretty much forever.

Please forgive my ignorance on this.

I'm not sure I understand and I think I'm missing something, but I've been trying to avoid the news of the Puppies these past few days. Is he saying that because other people voted differently than him, he deserves a refund?

Yet again, the Sad Puppies roll in a dead elk.

The Dogs in Elk were WAY funnier.

Your honor, defense moves for summary judgment and court costs.

Why, oh why, am I hearing that in John Larroquette's voice?
Aug. 28th, 2015 12:43 am (UTC)
Did he ever say how he's been ripped off or his vote invalidated?
Aug. 28th, 2015 01:02 am (UTC)
... He doesn't understand how preferential voting works?
Aug. 28th, 2015 10:25 am (UTC)
Interesting, Puppies, do please tell me more about how y'all have nothing to do with the Gamergaters.
Aug. 28th, 2015 11:43 am (UTC)
I think it's been pretty clearly established by now that Correia and Beale and a few others explicitly tried to get Gamergate involved. But looking at the voting numbers, I don't get the sense they were terribly successful. They got some people on board, but I don't think most Gamergaters paid that much attention to them.

Oh good grief. I hope it's expensive for him to learn how little hope he has of success. I mean, the Hugo committee keeps the ballots, so all they'd do is let the puppy hire an accounting firm (at his own expense) to go through them and check the results. It would be a very costly recount.

I wish I had enough free time to be outraged in trivial and completely wrong ways. Silly me, I have a full-time job to work, freelancing to do, novels to write, cats to floss...

Ha, exactly what I was thinking! Seems like a terribly expensive waste of time, to be getting riled up over $40 (and for a false reason, too.)
